Glenn Treacy

Glenn is a passionate believer in the role that therapy can play in helping people live a more fulfilling life and deal with difficult situations that may arise throughout. He provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space for his clients to speak honestly and openly. He supports them to navigate and understand their difficulties while encouraging and supporting them to consider different choices. He works in a relational way, meaning that he believes the relationship with the client is key to the success of the therapy.

He is very interested in the role that communication plays in our lives, both our communication with others and our internal dialogue. He supports couples and groups to explore their communication patterns, helping them find alternative ways of expression so that they can feel heard.

Glenn works with issues of, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, stuckness, grief and bereavement, relationship issues and couples therapy.

Glenn is a qualified as a Gestalt oriented psychotherapist.  He is also a certified mediator and communication coach (CNVC.org). Glenn is a Certified Associate member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy) and works to their standards and code of ethics.

Prior to working as a therapist, Glenn worked in the corporate world as the manager of a research think tank at a large financial investment firm. Glenn holds qualifications in both Physics and Business, Economics & Social Studies (BESS).

He has cited the challenges associated with being a manager of people as being pivotal to engaging in management training.  He trained extensively with Sandy Cotter in Development Psychology and Organisational Politics at Cranfield University in the UK.  He later completed a five year training in body oriented psychotherapy (Biosynthesis) in Switzerland with the late David Boadella.

Parenting challenges led him to the work of clinical psychologist, Marshall Rosenberg. Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication (NVC) training has enabled a transformation in his personal and professional relationships and he incorporates this approach in his therapy work and coaching.. Glenn shares this work in workshops and groups. He runs a Preperation for Therapy group using NVC and Gesalt at a low cost centre in Dublin.

Glenn is a member of the business and executive coaching faculty at UCD’s Michael Smurfit Business School, where he is part of a team that trains business and executive coaches underpinned by a Gestalt philosophy.  He also teaches Collaborative Communication to senior business leaders at UCD on their FT rated Managerial Excellence programme. He is a senior EMCC qualified business and executive coach. He holds the philosophy that at the end of the day we are all people, operating in different roles, at different stages of life and in different personal and professional situations.

Glenn is also a Swim Ireland and Shaw method accredited swimming teacher and specialises in helping fearful and nervous swimmers address their relationship with water.

He speaks French and is learning Portuguese.
