John Harnett


John worked as a senior manager in the public service until his retirement in 2009, before qualifying as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist. He has extensive counselling experience in many areas including anxiety, trauma and low self esteem. John was also employed as a full time Counsellor in Pieta House for seven years supporting those with suicidal ideation and or self harm.

John has an on-going interest in professional development and has further trained in various counselling approaches including Relational Gestalt Therapy; Diploma in Supervision; Choice Theory/Reality Therapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; and has completed a Diploma in Issues of Sexual Violence in the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

John has worked successfully with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Using an Integrative approach John offers an empathic space allowing clients to explore their difficulties/issues. This can help to bring greater self awareness leading to a more fulfilling life. John is also a qualified Supervisor using a Relational Gestalt Model.
