Mary Egan

Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist and Trauma Practitioner

I have been a practicing Psychotherapist since June 2006 when I qualified following four years training at the Institute of Creative Counselling and Psychotherapy, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. I followed this with 5 years training at the Institute of Biosynthesis, Heiden, Switzerland (with Dr David Boadella, a pioneer in childhood trauma and interpersonal neuroscience) and I qualified with a Diploma in Biosynthesis Somatic and Depth Psychology Oriented Psychotherapy in 2011. I am also a professionally qualified Social Worker. I am currently in ongoing education and training with Dr Vivian Broughton at the Centre of Healthy Autonomy, London UK and I have completed trainings with Dr Franz Ruppert (Munich Germany) in relation to Family Constellation Work (2020) and with Dr Patricia Crittenden, Adult Attachment and Psychopathology (2011/12). I am an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP),the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) and I am a CORU Registered Social Worker.

In my practice as a Psychotherapist, I recognise that the decision by the person to seek support in psychotherapy is a difficult and risky decision and I take time and care to work with my client to create a safe, reflective and relational therapeutic space. I have a special interest in early childhood trauma and recovery, adult attachment and early relational trauma and the traumatised parent. Within the psychotherapeutic process I pay particular attention as to how early childhood and relational trauma may be held in the body. I believe that everything we need to know for our own trauma healing is held within our self and it is a privilege for me to accompany each person on their individual therapeutic journey as they encounter and integrate their own internal resources for healing.
