Nora Kirrane

Courses Overview

Our courses are experiential and provide practitioners with experience of the Gestalt process and how to integrate it in their work. They provide an opportunity to learn about gestalt through their experience of the process in the group, modelling by the trainers, exercises to highlight aspects of the approach and opportunities for supervised practice of what has been learned.

Nora’s background is in social care having worked with children in care, housing & homeless services & with family carers. In 2001 Nora retrained as Counsellor & Psychotherapist with Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre ( DCTC) and is accredited with IAHIP & ICP. She is currently undertaking her Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy with DCTC 2019-2021.

Nora is committed to her ongoing growth and development, believing that as an integrative therapist, each person that comes into the therapy room is unique and that different tools and styles suit at different stages of the therapy. As a humanistic therapist, Nora understands that there are times in our lives when we need to work with a counsellor or psychotherapist to help us manage issues that we encounter that seems beyond our ability to negotiate alone.

Nora invites the whole person into the therapeutic relationship including the body, which she knows holds so much wisdom. She recognises that our western world teaches us to trust our thoughts and to place less emphasis in listening to our bodies, feelings and the “more than” part of ourselves, as we understand that. Her training in body work & Sensorimotor Psychotherapy gives Nora the skills & experience to support people in this work.

Nora has experience working with loss, bereavement, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma & abuse.
Nora has worked as a Psychotherapist & Counsellor since 2004. She also worked as part of the clinical team in Living Life Counselling in Co. Wicklow for 5 years & she is currently employed part time with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. Nora works in private practice with individuals and has facilitated many groups; more recently in the voluntary sector offering Reflective Practice to teams
