Rachel Keogh

With a background in social care and child development, in 2005 Rachel completed a four year diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy in ICCP. Since qualifying she has further trained in many other areas including sandplay, art therapy, relational Gestalt, working with adolescents, addiction studies and trauma work. She continues to engage in her own personal and professional development and is currently working towards accreditation in EFT (emotional freedom technique).

Apart from her private practice Rachel works with people within both the educational and voluntary sector, and has a particular interest and extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults. She understands this significant stage of life can be confusing and difficult yet a fruitful time of growth and opportunity.

Rachel has experience in working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, trauma, sexual abuse and intimacy issues. Strongly influenced by psychodynamic theory and practice she works creatively with each individual meeting them where they are with whatever they bring and endeavours to help them engage in the process of developing self awareness and healing.

Rachel believes that given time and space each person has a natural ability to heal from emotional distress and trauma and that the therapeutic relationship is a strong foundation for this healing. With a keen interest in somatic work and how the body remembers and manages emotions she has seen that becoming more in tune with the body is a gateway to self awareness, strengthens our ability to deal with life issues and opens up our potential for fulfilment and happiness.

With a curiosity about the unconscious and how it shapes our lives Rachel uses sand, art, symbolism and dream work to allow a medium where the unconsious can flourish and become integrated. Rachel understands therapy not only to be useful during difficult and transitional times but also as a place to support individuals in a search for meaning and purpose in life.
