Ruth Steenvoorden

Ruth is a senior accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and an Advanced Practitioner in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

First and foremost, Ruth fully appreciates making the decision to attend for counselling or therapy can be a difficult one and feeling safe in a relationship may be a foreign concept for people. Ruth is an effective, experienced therapist who takes time building that essential core relationship between client and herself by offering warmth, acceptance, support and her expertise which ranges over a 19 year period of working in this field.
Ruth specialises in Trauma and developmental Trauma (childhood attachment wounds) She pays particular attention between the partnership of mind and body. Thanks to recent advances in neuroscience and neuroplasticity there are now new and better ways in meeting, processing and healing past traumas and attachment wounds.

Each and every client has the potential to reach into the depths of primary emotion which when processed can free people to live from their best true unique selves with a compassion and understanding of who they truly are and always were supposed to be.

Trauma or developmental trauma can show up as anxiety and depression and its crucial that these issues are recognised for what they are and to be treated accordingly. Most common factors that manifest through trauma or attachment wounds are panic, anxiety, low mood, sense of a disconnect within oneself, sleep disturbances, depression etc…and sometimes just in a general overwhelm where people start withdrawing.

With Ruths skill and expansive experience she guides her clients gently and respectfully trusting the profound wisdom that a client inherently has in their bodies and minds to lead them into true transformations.
