Therese graduated as a psychotherapist in Loyola University Chicago, USA in 2001, she returned to Ireland where she set up a small private practice . She started offering human development workshops to young adult groups at the same time. Since 2003 she has worked full time as a psychotherapist in various organisations and in private practice. Her work in CCST (Centre for the Care of survivors of Torture) enhanced her training and experience in the area of trauma.

Listening and acceptance are always the basis of her work. Her psychotherapeutic style is determined by what the person needs support with. The person may want to deal with a specific issue like grief, loss, work or relationship stress, anxiety, depression or trauma. S/he might be aware that something in her/his life now is connected to past experience and is ready to approach it. Some people are considering the meaning and purpose of their lives while others want to consider their lives from a desire to grow and change.

Therese is working for 7 years now as a supervisor of accredited, pre accredited and student psychotherapists as well as of other caring professionals who need support in their work. She sees the supervision space as facilitating reflection on the experience of working with and being present to a client. As well as offering support with client work, she also likes to consider what is happening within the supervisee as s/he relates to clients and what is happening in the supervisory relationship as a way of reaching further insight, confidence and growth in their profession.

Therese offers workshops on various aspect of mental health including Navigating Transitions, Multicultural Considerations when working with Trauma , Improving Self Esteem , Laugh your way to Health and Happiness, Assertiveness, Mindfulness and Meditation. These workshops offer Therese the opportunity to bring her teaching and psychotherapy backgrounds together.
