Dublin Gestalt Centre Privacy Statement
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets strict new standards for the collection and protection of data – that is any information, which can lead to the identification of a person. This is particularly important since we now live in a digitalised world where much information is transmitted and stored electronically. Some of that data is classified as sensitive or special category data. Such data as that relating to mental or emotional health is now categorised as sensitive.
In Dublin Gestalt Centre we are a group of self-employed psychotherapists providing psychotherapy for clients and training for psychotherapists and other health care professionals. We collect and collate personal information for the purposes of finding you a psychotherapist to work with or giving you a place on a training course. For the purposes of the legislation Dublin Gestalt Centre is now a ‘data controller’. Therefore we need to tell you why and how we collect and protect any information relating to you.
The GDPR requires clarity about the legal basis for collecting data:
- If you contact our web site looking for a personal psychotherapist we need to collect personal information about you in order to match you with a psychotherapist. The data we collect for the purposes of matching you to a psychotherapist is your name, presenting issue, contact telephone or email address, and the name of the referring person. This data is passed on to the psychotherapist you choose to work with and is only retained by us until this therapeutic relationship begins. It is then deleted from our data files. This constitutes a legitimate reason for collecting the data. Once you start in therapy your contract is with the individual psychotherapist you agree to work with and they will have their own privacy statement.
- If you contact our website in order to express interest in a training course the information you give us is retained by us until interviews are completed. If you are assigned a place on a course this information is kept for the duration of the course and for seven years afterwards in keeping with good practice. If you are not assigned a place it is deleted unless we receive your express permission to keep it on file for other courses in the future. It is important for us to record your name, telephone and email address. This will allow us to process your interest in the training course. It is also important for us to have a record of your background training. This constitutes a legitimate reason for collecting and retaining this data.
The data outlined above is required to enable us to make contact with you and to respond to your enquiries. We will not use the data for any other reason and your details are never passed on to a third party.
This privacy notice applies to information we collect from:
- Current clients and both former and prospective clients
- Current Applicants to our training courses.
- Former applicants to our training course who wish to be informed of upcoming courses.
- Visitors to our website.
If you do not wish to to receive training information from Dublin Gestalt Centre, please send an email, indicating this, to info@gestalt.ie
